Merger & Acquisition (M&A) refers to the consolidation of companies through financial transactions.
Merger – Two companies combine to form a new entity, often to increase market share, efficiency, or competitiveness. Example: Company A and Company B merge to create Company C.
Acquisition – One company purchases another, either through mutual agreement or a hostile takeover. The acquired company may continue operating under its name or be absorbed into the buyer’s structure.
M&As are strategic moves to expand business operations, enter new markets, or achieve financial growth.
